Vital Report - Hamilton 3-2 Hearts
New Douglas Park
Hearts' unbeaten start to the Scottish Premiership season ended with a defeat at New Douglas Park against Hamilton on Saturday.
A game that swung one way and then the other after Kurtaj had given Hamilton the lead only for King and Paterson to hit back for Hearts, finally went Hamilton's way with late goals from Crawford and Tena, following Paterson's sending off for the Jambos, given them a three-two win.
Hamilton saw Crawford's 20-yard drive turned away by Hearts 'keeper Alexander, who made a fine save with Walker denied likewise by Hamilton's McGovern.
A glorious chance, when Kurtaj was put away by Crawford, was blown by Hamilton before half time with this looking like ending goalless. However with Ozturk and Alexander failing to stop a long ball Kurtaj (45) made up for this as he just about scored to give the hosts the lead.
Hearts responded in the second half and were quickly level when King (53) finished into the roof of the net shortly after the break.
From a goal-down Hearts were two-one up when Paterson (71) got in at the back post, and at that point with a little under 20-minutes to play Hearts would have expected to see out the win?
Paterson saw red for a foul on McKinnon, which caused mayhem and led to several yellow cards being dished out by referee Collum and five-minutes after this sending off Crawford (25) fired past Alexander from 25-yards to make it two-all.
At the second time of asking Tena (88) then turned the game in Hamilton's favour when he beat Hearts 'keeper Alexander against, there wasn't to be a fightback this time with the Jambos beaten for the first time and losing top spot to Celtic.
Did a starter, or someone from the bench, offer the most in this first defeat of the campaign?
