Vital Report - Hearts 1-1 Kilmarnock

1 - 1

Attendance: 16,461

Hearts' Scottish Premiership season continued with a draw at Tynecastle against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

A second successive draw is something Hearts had to be content with. This one after Walker had put the Jambos ahead with Balatoni equalising for Kilmarnock late on in this one-one draw, isn't one, unlike the point at Celtic a week earlier, that will be so happily accepted in many ways.

The opening half looked to be ending goalless until Balatoni, formerly of Hearts of course and returning to Tynecastle like former Jambos boss Locke, brought down Sow. His rash challenge bringing a penalty, which Walker (40) didn't make a mistake with to open the scoring.

If it wasn't for another former Hearts man, Kilmarnock 'keeper MacDonald, the Jambos would have been further ahead but he made several saves to deny Nicholson on each occasion!

Kilmarnock threatened an equaliser in the second half when Findlay was given time and space in the box but his header went just over the bar.

A second goal, which as it was proven was needed, couldn't come with Kilmarnock throwing on attacking options at the visitors chased an equaliser.

This came when Balatoni (79) made it one-one, the Kilmarnock defender making up for the penalty he gave away as he drove home from inside the box to draw Killie level with Hearts unable to clear the danger.

Frustrations boiled over in injury-time when Reilly, who had only come on three-minutes from time, was sent off for kicking out at Smith as Hearts' search for a first league win since August was taken into the international break.
